How Taxes are Calculated:
Tax bills are mailed out four times annually (in January, April, July and October), and they are due within 30 days of being sent.
Tax rates in Massachusetts are determined by cities and towns. They are expressed in dollars per $1,000 of assessed value (often referred to as mill rates). For example, if your assessed value is $200,000 and your tax rate is 10, your total annual tax would be $2,000.
In Person – We accept cash, check, money order, certified bank check; Master Card, Discover and Visa (No Water).
Online -We accept Master Card, Discover, and Visa.
The Town does not accept payments over the phone!
The Town of Billerica uses Leader Bank located in the city of Boston. This process is able to handle thousands of payments per bill period and is generally processed as quickly as if you mailed your bills directly to Town Hall.
If you are a resident and have misplaced your bill you please contact the Tax collector’s office and we will provide you with this information with proper Identification. If you are any entity involved in the sale or refinancing of one or more properties, you must request a Municipal Lien Certificate (MLC).
